Being boys...

The boys have been very active and are throughly enjoying keeping us on our toes. Here are a few pictures on how we have found them the last few days.

A year ago today we had our Amnio Reduction. The original post is here, but to look back and read about how our little boys struggled it is so amazing to see them a year later. God is good.

11 months old and a year ago today....

Aiden - 11 months

Nathaniel - 11 months

You read that right. 11 months old. You know it has come to the point where I don't want them to get any older, I want them to stay this age forever... okay maybe not, but they are so playful, and so cute right now. But as you can see they are becoming little men. Both are crawling and pulling up on everything. Aiden and Nathaniel both can now go from crawling to sitting. Nathaniel has decided once he pulls up on something he must let go and see how long he can stand there, sometimes he tries to take a step. One more month and we will celebrating their 1st birthday! 1 year ago today we had the ultrasound that changed our lives forever. September 5 2007 we found out that our boys had TTTS. I was 23 weeks and 5 days when we found out that our boys might not make it into this world alive. http://aidenandnathaniel.blogspot.com/2007/10/roller-coaster-of-day.html
That was the original post, you are more than welcome to visit earlier posts and see what our journey has been like. If your going through TTTS or have already gone through it, God be with you. I am here to listen and give as much support as I can.
Who is who??

Furious!

So we are furious right now. Since we brought the boys home they have been on 28 calorie Neosure formula which was prescribed by High Risk. Regular calorie Neosure made by the back of the can directions is only 22 calorie. Well we were sent home with very specific directions given to us by High Risk on how to make their formula thicker so they get more calories to help them grow more and help them grow a little faster. Well a couple a months ago High Risk was not happy with their growth still so they put them on protein powder as well. Still no significant weight gain. They are still not on the charts for height or weight for their age. Come to freaking find out the damn directions that they gave us is the same freaking directions as on the back of the damn container of Neosure. So our boys have been getting 22 calorie not 28 calorie. We are completely and utterly pissed. We raised this issue with our pediatrician yesterday even though this is not in anyway his fault it is High Risks fault for giving us the wrong directions. But he was very upset. Basically it has stunted our boys growth the past 8 months we have had them home. They could of been caught up in growth a long time ago! No wonder they are always so hungry! So instead of still being hungry after 8 ounces of the thin crap, they are now getting the correct amount of calories and barely finishing 5 ounces of the thick milkshake. Yesterday Nate weighed in at 18.4 lbs and Aiden was 17.4 lbs. I will keep you updated on their progress in weight gain as I am sure it will progress rather well now that we found out this wonderful bit of info.

My poor little sicky boys...

The boys have been pretty sick and now Aiden has been diagnosed with Asthma. I had to take both boys to Children's in Liberty township today to get checked over because they have been running pretty high fevers and runny noses, not wanting to play and so on, but come to find out they have a small virus and are no longer contagious but Aiden has Asthma. So he is on Albuterol every 4 hours for the next 24 hours and then twice a day for the following 48 hours and then we see our doctor. Last night Aiden's temp topped out at 103.6, so I had a long not so fun night being worried about fevers and giving breathing treatments.

Godzilla

So lately the sounds I hear from the back two (gated) rooms are mean cries and roaring sounds. Our Nater tater has become Godzilla or so I call him. He will crawl/stomp his way up to the gate that is attached to the kitchen door and walk his little hands up the gate and put his hands at the top of the gate and loudly clear his throat 5-6 times in a row. If he does not get a response from you within a few seconds he will do it again and again until you respond. My favorite response is to go charging in there like a monster with my arms above my head saying "RAWR RAWR RAWR!" He thinks it is absolutely hilarious and the other day I did this while running in with the camera to get some shots for you to enjoy. Also.... the boys are now holding their own bottles! Hallelujah! SO there are a few pictures for you to enjoy :)

Mobile babies

So within this last week the boys have gotten very mobile. Nathaniel crawls like crazy, and Aiden has been scooting around on his belly and crawling a couple of paces. Both boys can pull themselves up on anything they want to pull up on. Nathaniel is still the bully like he has been from day one. He knows Aiden is not fast enough so he will pull himself up on Aiden and smash his face into the ground. Aiden will get him back in his own time, in his own ways. Both boys have their first teeth, and Nathaniel has another one poking through. They seem to enjoy regular table food more than the nasty stuff in jars. So lunches have consisted of some type of left over meat, cottage cheese and tomatoes and whatever fruit we have chopped up very small and hand fed to the boys. That takes about an hour of my day just feeding them lunch :)
Our dear friend Cindy has taken pictures of the family this past weekend. Instead of posting all of the pictures, I will post a few here and on My Blog and the rest will be on my Flicker account so please go and enjoy the pictures! On her blog this week she will be featuring our family, so there should be some good pictures and reading there.
Today Nathaniel weighed in at 17.12 and Aiden weighed in at 17. I can't believe that only 9 months ago they only weighed 2 lbs and were fighting for their lives. How blessed we are to have an awesome God to guide them every step of the way.
